Spotted! Poppy and Paul's Wedding at Nestldown

What a fabulous weekend to have an elegant BBQ at Nestldown. Poppy and Paul, the bride and groom were so wonderful to work with. We designed their wedding via email since they lived in Los Angeles. I was excited to put a face with the voice I had heard on the phone. Inspiration for this wedding was from the following key words: chic, bbq, elegant, fun, natural, sping like. Here's a few of my pictures. Can't wait to see the professionals from Luke Snyder Studio.

We were part of a great team of artists who all contributed to making this day a huge success for Poppy and Paul. The who's who of the day- Nicole Lisanne Weddings and Events by Design , Thomas John Events, and Big Fun Dj to name a few.

Spotted! Deborah and Kwong at Casa Real...

Hi all of the loyal P&B fans out there. It’s been a while since I blogged but I just had to tell you about the party this past Saturday. Deborah and Kwong were wed amongst the sprawling vineyards of the beautiful Livermore Valley. Casa Real at the Ruby Hill Winery set the stage for this elegant evening affair.

Katherine Noller Fernandez of Custom Celebrations(http://www.customcelebrationsweddings.com/) was at the helm and made sure everything went perfect. We were really impressed by the Casa Real staff. They were super friendly and easy to work with.

The room looked beautiful with warm up lighting and burgundy linens. The tables were adorned by giant flower spheres made up of fluffy Peonies, white Hydrangeas, Jade Green Roses, and ornamental Kale, resting atop three foot glass cylinders. I floated Cymbidium Orchids inside the vase to give it that surreal look. The tables framing the dance floor had Candles floating above the orchids in lew of the spheres.

Deborah, the bride was stunning in white silk, carrying a bouquet made almost exclusively Peonies. From my collection, I added vintage earrings peeking from behind the Spray Roses. Sage green Midori satin ribbon pulled it all together for a soft fluffy texture.

The ceremony space was in an enchanted garden with a fountain that had these really cool built in flower nests. I used magenta Mums and green Roses with the white Hydrangeas to fill them. Magenta and lime green pomanders hung from the center isle chairs, floating above the rose petals.

When we came back to break down, DJ King Raffi was keeping the dance floor alive with some wedding favorites. The guests were still having a great time and the love was still thick in the air. What a great night.

The summer is upon us and I’m looking forward to a busy season. My business is growing faster than I could have imagined. Special thanks go out to Allison Burchby for stepping up this weekend and helping me out with this big job. It went so smoothly.

Spotted! Los Gatos DJ Company

One of my most rewarding activities is networking. It’s not all about the fringe benefits like meetings over martinis or posh industry parties. I get so much energy from the cool people I meet. Take, for example, Cassie and Dan Dresti from Los Gatos Dj company. Cassie and I bounce business ideas off each other and share war stories while our husbands devise plans to take over the world by way of Surf Punk.

Cassie has a background in broadcasting and an outgoing personality, making her a great front woman for the Duo. Dan is a self taught musician and has played in numerous eclectic rock bands. His music knowledge is evident when you flip through his library of CDs. Sure, every bridal party wants to boogie down to classic disco standards, but it takes a great DJ to know when to throw down the obscure B-side to really turn the party up. “But this one goes to eleven!”

The couple fell in love in 2001. After working for other DJ companies, they decided to take their talent out on their own. Los Gatos DJ Company was born. They created a family business built on integrity, reliability and talent.

There is a lot more to being an event DJ than remembering to bring your Cool and the Gang album. Dan and Cassie pride themselves in the way they care for a couple’s special day, making it romantic and fun, classy or edgy. They are at the top of my referral list. Oh yea, and I always have a great time rubbing elbows with them over a cocktail.

Spotted! Karen and Rick- The Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay, Ca XOXO Flower Girl

Picasso Calla lilies painted brush strokes of Indigo through a bouquet clutched by this blushing bride. Rick and Karen celebrated their love on the cliffs of Half Moon Bay at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. A foggy February day made for a cozy setting. Kristian Iskandar, KI Photography (http://www.kiphotography.com/) captured my flowers beautifully. The furry grey of Dusty Miller and the deep purple of the Black and Picasso Calla lilies popped against stark white. The black Eucalyptus gave it a feathery look. It gives it an elegant flair, I think.

Handsome men in black adorned single Black Calla lily boutonnieres. These were garnished with a sprig of evergreen and a young blackberry. Looking very dapper, guys. Bravo.

Inside I used White Hydrangeas and Blush Roses for the center pieces. Purple Anemones are awesome for creating texture and vibrant color. I reintroduced the blackberries and the Eucalyptus to tie the theme together.

Moral of the story? Simplicity in dark and white creates elegance for a seaside soirée. Sometimes being understated makes your creativity stand out. Thanks so much, Rick and Karen, for letting me help to make your dream day come to life.

Spotted! Bridal Faire at the Toll House Hotel

I was so honored to participate in the Bridal Show at The Toll House Hotel last weekend. The show was comprised of top notch vendors including wedding planner extraordinaire Nicole Lisanne of Nicole Lisanne Weddings and Events by Design (http://www.nicoledambra.com/) , Dave Etheridge of A Video Reflection (http://www.avideoreflection.net/) , and one of my favorite photographers, Claudia Akers (http://www.claudiaakersphotography.com/) . Following a fashion show featuring dresses from Gabrielle’s Bridal (http://www.gabriellesbridal.com/) , guests perused tables featuring everything from invitation vendors to cake makers.

I set a table for four in a Greek Mediterranean theme. The center piece featured a stemless bouquet of Hydrangeas and Orange Pin Cushions atop a submerged Green Cymbidium Orchid. Hartman Studios generously provided the tableware featuring Greek Key Patterned plates and Cosmopolitan Glassware. The Chivari chairs were adorned with a Tropical Leaf.

Nicole Lisanne’s inspiration, a black and white modern chic themed table also featured Precious & Blooming flowers. The table settings were topped off with White Spider Mums creeping from black martini glasses. White Carnation Balls resting on glass pearls served as the framework for the main center piece, a video portfolio of Nicole's work put together by Dave Etheridge(http://www.avideoreflection.net/). They also featured the most delicious donuts I have ever had by Donut Du Jour. The table was gorgeous. Nicole really has talent and vision.

These pictures were taken by Claudia Akers. She is one of the best photographers I have ever worked with. She has a talent for showing the true beauty of my flowers. And she is really cool, to boot!

Stephanie and Jim, June 2008

One of my most favorite weddings, from this summer, was that of Stephanie and Jim. The ceremony was at the Hotel Los Gatos (http://www.hotellosgatos.com/). We kept the ceremony simple with white petals and pew bouquets. The Bride wore a gorgeous Vera Wang wedding dress that was black and white. This became the them for the wedding. The bride carried a bouquet of white peonies, chocolate cosmos, stephanotis and more, hand tied with vintage black lace and a black and cream antique cameo. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of black calla lilies, burgundy peonies, fountain grass, black magic roses, and chocolate dahlias hand tied each with a different black and white striped ribbon. The couple was so much fun! the groom even wrote a song for the bride. He sang it for her at the reception along with his buddies. The reception was held at the Los Gatos Opera House, ( http://www.operahouseeventsite.com/). her we placed black pedestals with white hydrangeas,peonies, roses, dianthus and many more accompanied by concord grapes. I really enjoyed creating this wedding. It had a traditional, tropical feeling. Set at the beautiful La Rinconada Golf and Country Club, in Los Gatos, California, the ceremony was on the green. The reception held in their beautiful remodeled club house. The vibrant colors were great in the craftsman styled room. The had a great photographer, Dia Rao (http://www.diarao.com/). They danced the night away to a great Dj ( http://www.losgatosdj.com/). I was thrilled to receive the pictures above from Dia and even though their wedding was in May, I still thought I'd give it some attention on my blog!

Jill and Richard were married in Los Gatos, California. It was a great small reception at a new restaurant in Los Gatos, California called Trevese. HellyBee was the photographer and I can't talk enough about her work. I am looking forward to working with her again in the future.

It was a pleasure to provide the flowers for this wedding in vibrant hues of red and Burgundy to compliment the brides black and white dress.

I was so thrilled today because I was able to see the pictures of this gorgeous couple! The pictures were taken by Bella Pictures (http://www.bellapictures.com/). They actually got married in September at the Santa Clara Mission, and had their reception at the Ainsely House in Campbell, Ca. The colors were vibrant and fun! I was so excited for this wedding last weekend. I hadn't done an event at the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco, California. The Bride was such a joy to work with, and her Groom was fun! The event was a success even though mother nature decided to have the first big storm of the season on this day!

It was a pleasure to work with Nicole D'ambra, from Nicole D'ambra Wedding Consulting & Design, the event was smooth and flawless.

I can't wait to see the pictures from the photographer, that's always my favorite since they make everything look so beautiful.
